An opinion is like a paint brush on blank canvas. Not a single one is the same.
Every person needs a place to post mindless rants about every day life. And while on the internet nothing stays hidden and everyone will feel the obnoxious need to judge the musings you write down, we all need to be able to tell our vision of the truth.
This place will be mine.
I like to live life precariously on the edge. Skirting along the lines with the way I should act and the way I want to. Procrastination is a sin as my parents would say, but then again it also happens to be one of the things I am most skilled at.
And in the end, does it matter?
I like to think that it does not. I stand by the mantra that is displayed in one of my favourite video games. "Nothing is true, everything is permitted." At first sight, it seems pretty simple; you can do whatever the fuck you want. But there is more to it than that.
It means that you are allowed to view facts and situations and draw your own conclusions. To open up your mind and evaluate, to not simply take over what is already laid down before you without any questions or a mere thought. It means that yes, you are allowed to live your own life your life the way you want to. But the consequences are also yours to live with.
Tomorrow I'm starting my first day at college. I've been telling myself that it can't be too difficult, since English is a language I'm good at, a language I love. Again, most likely it is all just wishful thinking. I watch people all around me stress out and worry. Will they succeed, will they fail? Failure is not a concept that is accepted in our society. You snooze, you lose. But I like to go with the motions and take things as they come. So far it is not an attitude that has gotten me a lot of success, but I am content with what I do have.
Friends, family and a healthy curiosity for new information. Passion and the ability to execute the things that I love.
And in comparison to the life that I used to live, that is more valuable. That is my success.
So no, I do not worry. Because happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the lights.
